Topic:  Payment Caps: When can you balance bill the patient for what the insurance doesn’t pay?

Webinar Description:  With Harvard Pilgrim’s recent implementation of a “daily cap” for PT services when they are provided by a private practice, questions have been raised about whether providers can bill the patient for services that go beyond the cap.  For in-network providers, the answer may depend on how your Provider Agreement with the Payer is worded and/or what the patient’s health insurance plan documents say.  For out-of-network providers, it depends on whether there are any state laws that prohibit balanced billing.  In this webinar we will discuss what the options are for how private practitioners can deal with these increasingly more common arbitrary payment caps, how these caps impact care and what providers might need to do to educate patients, payers and regulators on this problem.
